 KyraMinturn Sedgwick, born August 19, 1965 is an American actor. Her most well-known part is as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, on TNT's crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick was awarded an Emmy Award in 2010 and she also won a Golden Globe Award for 2007 for her performance as Johnson. The show ended after the seventh season. Sedgwick is also famous for her recurring role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine's sitcom Madeline Wuntch. Sedgwick was awarded a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's film roles include Oliver Stone's Born in July (1989) and Cameron Crowe's Individuals (1992) The Heart and Souls-1993), Phenomenon (1996) and What's Cooking (2000) as well as Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2011) are also among her many. Sedgwick was the daughter of Patricia Rosenwald who was an therapist for speech and family, and Henry Dwight Sedgwick IV who was a venture capitalist. She was born in New York City. Her mother was Jewish. Her father was Episcopalian and of English descent. Sedgwick claims to be Jewish and says she is a member of Passover seders.
