Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals since February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence was her mother. She was an excellent homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented employee throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who would drink occasionally and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran struggled with her education and was diagnosed with dyslexia. She was a student at an area Catholic elementary school, and then began high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After failing several classes during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
